About Us

Our History, Our Mission

Foothills Housing Corporation (formerly known as Fauquier Housing Corporation) was founded in 1970 by John Wayland, Max Tuffs Sr., and Roland Tapscott, who responded to the need for affordable housing in their community. Through the decades, much has changed; however, our mission has remained the same: providing safe, decent, and affordable housing opportunities.

Fast forward to 2024, FHC now owns and manages 168 affordable housing units in Fauquier County, comprised of single-family homes, townhomes, and apartments. Additionally, our Essential Home Repair and Modification Programs have expanded, allowing FHC to make major repairs, more extensive modifications, and a loan program with no interest.

As we continue our mission and embark on new opportunities, FHC will be navigating new waters as we take on the management of the “new” Rush River Commons Apartments in Washington, VA.
